Busy July for Tucker Haymond

BroncoBlitz.com caught up with Western Michigan basketball recruit Tucker Haymond to get an update on his recruitment following a basketball camp at BYU. BroncoBlitz last spoke with Haymond back in April when he told his unlikely story which led to a WMU scholarship offer.
The Seattle, Washington native still currently holds just two offers from the Seattle University Redhawks out of the Western Athletic Conference and of course Western Michigan.

Other than the two he holds offers from, "Washington State, Hawaii, Richmond, UC-Irvine, Portland State, and BYU are showing the most interest," says Haymond.
"There are a lot of schools showing some heavy interest," says Haymond. "It just comes down to me performing in July."
The next several weeks are going to be big for Haymond as his AAU team, Seattle Rotary, will begin competing in national tournaments nearly every weekend in the month of July. Haymond is scheduled to travel to the "Big Shots Tournament" in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina (July 11-15), "The Hoop Summer Showcase" in Salem, Oregon (July 20-22), and the "Las Vegas Classic" in Las Vegas, Nevada (July 25-29).
In regards to his WMU recruitment, there are no immediate plans for Tucker to make an official visit to Kalamazoo in the foreseeable future.
"I haven't planned any official visits to WMU yet. I've been talking to a couple of coaches at WMU."
When asked which ones, Tucker admits, "Pretty much all of them. Great staff! We talk a lot. We are allowed to text coaches now, so we talk at least once a week."
Distance and location doesn't seem to be a factor in Tucker's recruitment, but he definitely shows some curiosity in knowing more about the Western Michigan and Kalamazoo community, which is located just over 2,000 miles away from his hometown in Seattle.
"I want to learn about the fan base out there. Is the student section pretty good and how is school spirit? I'd kind of like to get a feel for what the atmosphere is like out there."
Haymond has also received some mild interest from Boise State, California, Columbia, Eastern Washington, Lehigh, Memphis, Oregon, Oregon State, Princeton, San Diego, San Francisco, Santa Clara, Seattle Pacific, Washington, Washington State, and Yale.
