David James: 66-13 SU, 35-42-2 ATS
D.J. Duckett: 68-11 SU, 37-38-4 ATS
Brian Persky: 68-11 SU, 40-36-2 ATS
We now have a tie atop the straight-up picks, as Toledo beating Bowling Green got Brian back to all-square with D.J. This week features a light slate of three games before mid-week action begins on Tuesday.
#17 Northern Illinois (-25) at UMass, Saturday noon
David: Having seen what UMass' defense gave up to a much weaker WMU offense, I don't have a lot of confidence in them right now, even if they've been decent much of the year. In any case, expect that unit to be on the field a lot. NIU by 31
DJ: This will be a blowout for sure, just a question of how much NIU wants to run up the score to help their BCS hopes. NIU by 30
Brian: Besides the Akron game, NIU hasn't really shown any signs of faltering in MAC play. After UMass' deflating loss last week against the Broncos, I can't see them regrouping in time to make this much a ball game. NIU by 28
Kent State at Akron (-1.5), Saturday 3:30pm
David: Kent State has fallen a long way to being underdogs in the Wagon Wheel game. Two teams that are arguably better than their records, and really need a win. I'll take the Zips at home. Akron by 7
DJ: This is shaping up to be a very close matchup, with Akron showing some defensive capabilities in recent week. I still believe Kent State's offense to be the difference here. Kent St. by 3
Brian: To be honest, I really don't know what to do with this game. Due to Akron's improved defense and the fact that they have been able to move the ball somewhat on offense, I'm giving a slight edge to the Zips at home. Akron by 3
Eastern Michigan at Toledo (-30.5), Saturday 7:00pm
David: It's hard not to feel for EMU, who has had a tough year in many ways. I just don't see any magic happening against a Toledo team still trying to win the MAC West. Toledo by 35
DJ: Toledo tends to perform very well in night contests. Hopefully EMU gets nothing to build upon heading into their rivalry game next weekend against WMU. Toledo by 27
Brian: Toledo is always tough at home, especially in night games. Their opponent is EMU. Regardless of whether or not David Fluellen suits up for this game, no surprises here. I just think the spread is a bit too high. Toledo by 24
