The following is a BroncoBlitz "Get to Know" series providing information on Western Michigan University football signees for the 2020 class.

First up, Anthony Sambucci, who pledged his commitment to the Broncos in June of 2019.

BroncoBlitz contributor, Tom Schnipke, was able to talk to Sambucci, the Lemont, IL native and asked him some questions.

Tom Schnipke: Why did you pick Western Michigan?

Anthony Sambucci: Western gave me a great opportunity. The chance to play for a great program and an awesome community, including the education they offer. It just felt like family when I stepped on campus.

Tom Schnipke: What other schools were involved in your recruitment?

Anthony Sambucci: I had FCS offers from South Dakota State, North Dakota, Youngstown State, Illinois State, Southern Illinois, Western Illinois, and Eastern Illinois. Mostly the Missouri Valley. I was also in contact with Kansas State and Iowa State.

Tom Schnipke: Are you coming in strictly at the wide receiver position?

Anthony Sambucci: Yes, hopefully I can help in the return game if they need me to.

Tom Schnipke: What are some of your proudest accomplishments?

Anthony Sambucci: Being a part of a high school team that has a continued legacy of making the playoffs, 16 out of the last 17 seasons. Also earning my scholarship after the WMU football camp in the summer! I was also selected to the 6A All State team my senior season.

Tom Schnipke: A few non-football related questions. Favorite food? Shows you watch? Music you're listening to?

Anthony Sambucci: I’m a big fan of baked mostaccioli and a juicy Italian beef. I don’t really watch of lot of shows, but I did watch Stranger Things and Last Chance U. I do like some 60s classics, especially Dion and Elvis. Also, EDM and Country.

Tom Schnipke: What can Bronco fans expect from you?

Anthony Sambucci: My best!

Q: So let's go out to your favorite place for dinner. Where are we going and what are you ordering?

Anthony Sambucci: Portillos. I love the Mostaccioli and bread at the Barnelli's part of Portillos sop it's either that or I'll order an Italian Beef on a croissant with mozzarella cheese with fries and a strawberry shake.

Q: So what's your hidden talent?

Anthony Sambucci: I can draw and I'll draw anything and I love just taking some time and drawing.

Q: What's one of your most embarrassing moments in sports so far?

Anthony Sambucci: I've got a good one. When I was playing in Little League my Mom would bring our dog out to the game. She was walking him out in the outfield and let's say that my dog dropped off a gift in the outfield grass in front of everyone. It was so embarrassing.
