WMU football got it's 2022 recruiting class rolling with it's first commitment coming from Fort Wayne, Indiana (Homestead) wide receiver Nate Anderson.

"I chose WMU because of the great coaching staff and culture they have surrounded their program with. They are a team that wants to win and will play you early if you are the best," Anderson said. "They have also had prior success (with recruits) from Northern Indiana too,. I would also say Coach Harbaugh individually was also a key part of why I chose Western too because he is a great coach and has sent people to the NFL before."

Anderson is no stranger to Western Michigan University. He's been familiar with the program for some time.

"Honestly, since I was little I loved watching Western play. They are a very competitive and classy program," Anderson said. "They have prepared their players for the next level which I love as well."

Anderson has many ties to the Broncos, starting with his brother, who attends classes at WMU. Anderson also knows current and former Broncos, which include Dee Eskridge and Dashon Bussell.

Anderson is especially close with another former WMU player who's name many fans might recognize; Zach Terrell.

"We are really good family friends with Zach Terrell and his family," Anderson said. "When I talked to Zach he said he wouldn't change a thing about his experience (at WMU). I loved hearing that from a guy I know is telling the truth."

Anderson had many Division 1 offers, some of which included MAC foes Akron, Ball State, Bowling Green, Buffalo, Central Michigan, Eastern Michigan, Kent State, Miami (OH), Northern Illinois and Toledo, as well as Navy, Army, Dartmouth and Indiana State. Anderson also said schools who were interested but didn’t offer included Indiana, Purdue and Texas Tech.

Anderson, who was clocked running a 4.48 40 yard dash, said WMU sees him as either a slot receiver or outside receiver. He also spoke about his strengths as a player.

"I would say my greatest strengths are my speed and acceleration along with quickly getting in and out of my breaks/cuts," Anderson said.

Anderson also added that he's not sure how close the other recruits are to committing at this point but he's definitely going to do his best to help recruit and build up an elite 2022 recruiting class.
