18th commitment is a big one

Big news came in for WMU fans Saturday evening, as Clarkston, Mich. cornerback Tim Cason made his pledge to play for the Broncos.
Cason had been linked with Georgia Tech over the past few weeks, but had stated on multiple occasions that WMU was very high on his list and decided it was time to make a final decision.

With a 5.7 Rivals Rating (the highest three-star rating available), Cason is the second highest-rated Bronco commit behind four-star quarterback Chance Stewart. The commitment also gives WMU two verbals in the Rivals.com Michigan top ten, as Stewart is ranked fifth and Cason ninth.
Among cornerbacks, the 6-foot, 181 pound Cason ranks 42nd in the nation. BroncoBlitz.com named him as WMU's top secondary target in our recent State of the Class article.
While he flew relatively under-the-radar for much of the spring, Cason's stock blew up after the Rivals Camp Series Chicago event, where he was one of the top defensive performers. He spoke with BroncoBlitz.com after the camp and said a commitment may not be far off.
Cason is the 18th commitment overall in WMU's class of 2014, as well as the seventh with at least three stars and tenth from the state of Michigan (with three ranked in the top 20 in the state).
Western Michigan's class is now ranked 28th in the nation and first in the Mid-American Conference by a wide margin. BroncoBlitz.com will have more on this commitment as the story develops.
