A reliable source confirmed to that Tim McGarigle, Western Michigan's 2012 linebackers coach, will in fact be retained as part of P.J. Fleck's 2013 staff. It is expected, though not confirmed, that he'll continue to coach the linebackers.

McGarigle is the first known assistant on the staff at this time, although it is likely that strength and conditioning coach Nate Peoples and director of football operations Jay Steilberg will also be retained.

On Christmas Eve, had reported that Elon defensive coordinator Ed Pinkham had accepted a job on P.J. Fleck's staff in the same capacity at Western Michigan. Minutes later, sources close to the WMU football program confirmed that the news was indeed true.

Pinkham is now the second confirmed assistant on the staff at this time, along with linebackers coach Tim McGarigle.

Pinkham has over 30 years of coaching experience including stops at New Hampshire (1980-1992), Holy Cross (1993-1996), Colgate (1997-2007), and Rutgers (2008-2010).

A source tells that Richmond quarterback's coach Kirk Ciarrocca will be named Western Michigan's next offensive coordinator. Ciarrocca is now the third known member of P.J. Fleck's 2013 assistant coaching staff -- he joins defensive coordinator Ed Pinkham and linebackers coach Tim McGarigle.

It is likely that will not be able to receive confirmation from WMU athletics until after New Year's with many colleges and universities closed for the holidays. But as soon as we receive confirmation, we will be here to share it with you.

Stay tuned to as P.J. Fleck continues to build his 2013 staff.
