Will McCabe, a defensive lineman from Palatine, Ill. was the first of a string of recruits to commit to the Broncos. McCabe had offers from Ball State University, Central Michigan University, Eastern Michigan University, to name a few. WMU was the second school to offer McCabe.

"The overall atmosphere and excitement from the coaches was unlike any other school I visited," McCabe said. "I'm super excited for this opportunity."

At 6 feet 3 inches tall and 270 pounds, McCabe has the size and versatility to play either inside or outside on the defensive line.

McCabe coming from Palatine, a suburb of Chicago, shows that head coach Tim Lester and his coaching staff continue to hit the Chicago area hard while on the recruiting trail.

Lee Payton, an athletic tight end fills the other tight end spot in the 2018 class filled by Dylan O'Quinn, who committed to the Broncos last week. Payton had offers from the likes of the University of Florida, Indiana University and the University of Toledo.

"(WMU) It's an amazing place. It's close to home and WMU fits me," Payton said. "But it was really the coaching staff and the environment (I liked)."

Payton, who's main recruiters were wide receivers coach Ashton Aikens and tight ends coach Bill Kenney, feels he is a game changer on and off the football field.

"On the field I can be a big difference maker just knowing it's hard for safeties to check athletic tight ends," Payton said. "And off the field, I'll just be the same dude I've always been. Respectful and uplifting. I try to help people as much as I can in many different ways."

Payton adds to the Detroit connection in the 2018 class, joining fellow commits El Julian Jordan, Desjuan Johnson and Andre Carter.

Johnson, told me a week prior that he was going to commit to the Broncos but took until June 25 to make it official on Twitter. Johnson had offers from the likes of Toledo, Kent State University, Central Michigan and Ball State University.

Johnson did not return BroncoBlitz's request for an interview.

Eleby adds to a one-two punch at quarterback for the 2018 class, joining El Julian Jordan. Eleby is a strong armed, pro-style quarterback that one Rivals analyst told me "was a major get at quarterback and can play on Sunday's."

"(WMU) is comfortable and seems like a good fit," Eleby said on committing to the Broncos.
