WMU gets contested MAC prospect

Western Michigan has picked up its ninth commitment of the class of 2013, winning a Mid-American Conference recruiting battle for in-state prospect Andre Turner.
Turner is a 6-foot-2, 220 pound defensive end from Chandler Park Academy in Harper Woods, Mich. Just outside of Detroit, Chandler Park has now produced two Football Bowl Subdivision athletes in the class of 2013. Turner joins three-star Michigan commit Csont'e York as commitments from the school this recruiting cycle.

Turner has offers from three other MAC rivals, Bowling Green, Toledo, and Eastern Michigan, but chose to play a bit further from his East Michigan home. For the Broncos, he is the first commitment on the defensive line and only the second on the defensive side of the ball, which leaves plenty of room for others to join.
At 6-foot-4 and 220 pounds, Turner projects as a pass rushing specialist not unlike current Bronco Paul Hazel. His first step off the line has been named as his biggest strength.
WMU now has nine commitments in the rapidly-growing class of 2013.
