Detroit WR is second commit in 15 hours for Western Michigan

For the second time in a little over 15 hours, Western Michigan University head football coach P.J. Fleck received a verbal commitment for the class of 2015. The first came from defensive tackle Daniel Jackson and the latter comes from East English Prep's (Detroit, Mich.) Anton Curtis.
Curtis is a pure athlete, though he'll be on the offensive side of the ball at WMU, lining up at wide receiver. He has a long stride-- he stands 6-foot-3 -- and due to that, he looks to glide more than run. He's very smooth in the open field, too, with quick feet to change directions with ease.

In his highlight film, Curtis spends virtually all of the plays at quarterback as he's a do-everything football player for East English Prep. He's played quarterback, wide receiver, saftey and cornerback. While he does show perhaps a passable arm, his future is definitely catching the football and using his athletic abilities to outrun opponents and put points on the board.
Curtis is constantly increasing his football I.Q. -- as he told The D Zone website, he's a student of the game and that's one of his best intangibles -- and it shows when he's on the gridiron. He makes quick, often correct, decisions of when to cut and where to go with the football.
At the 3:10 of the video, Curtis really displays his speed. He takes the snap and immediately runs right passed a defensive lineman. One shifty move and Curtis is strolling into the endzone, capping off a 45-yard touchdown run that he made look relatively easy.
Anton Curtis' speed isn't just limited to the football field. He recently won the 400 meter relay at the Detroit Public School League Track Meet and was also apart of the winning 400 and 1600 meter relay teams at the Division 2 Regional.
In addition to an offer from WMU, Curtis had offers from Central Michigan, Eastern Michigan, Akron, Bowling Green, Toledo and Southern Illinois. Cincinnati and Michigan State have also expressed interest in Curtis' talents, as well, but he ultimately chose WMU above them all. He's the 16th commitment for Fleck and co. in the 2015 class and June has just started. WMU is expected to bring in a class size around 22-25 kids.
