P.J. Fleck and the Western Michigan coaching staff picked up where they left off after their acclaimed recruiting class of 2014, securing their first commitment of the new cycle in Oak Park, Mich. linebacker Junior McMullen.
McMullen represents a continuation of the philosophies the staff showed in their 2014 effort. A Michigan prospect from the suburbs of Detroit, this is also an early win for WMU in a recruiting battle against archrival Central Michigan, who was the only other current offer for McMullen.
He's also getting early interest from a couple of Big Ten programs, as Indiana and Michigan State have contacted the 6-foot-2, 225 pound outside linebacker prospect.
McMullen's commitment is over two weeks earlier than last year's first commit, linebacker Robert Spillane. He is not yet rated, but is the first step toward's the staff's goal of re-creating last year's Mid-American Conference record-setting top 60 class.
