BroncoBlitz picks the MAC: Week Seven

SU = Straight up
ATS = Against the spread

David James: 49-10 SU, 27-32 ATS
D.J. Duckett: 52-7 SU, 27-30-2 ATS
Brian Persky: 52-7 SU, 33-25 ATS

The staff continues to run up some very nice records straight up, and MAC play has been much better to us against the spread, as well. This week features the final chance for a MAC team to upset an AQ team, as Bowling Green travels to Mississippi State.

Eastern Michigan at Army (-7.5), Saturday noon

David: Army's team has been weak, and the MAC has had huge success against the Black Knights in the past couple of years. After their last couple of competitive outings against Stanford and Wake Forest, though, I think they'll handle EMU. Army by 10

DJ: I think Army will give EMU more than it can handle in this one. Though it could be a good game, Army will be too strong at home. Army by 13

Brian: Eastern is Eastern and service academies are always tough. Army could put up 500 yards of offense in this one. Army by 10

Central Michigan at Ohio (-18), Saturday 2:00pm

David: Perhaps CMU is riding high after last week's win, but it's all coming crashing down this week. Ohio by 24

DJ: Though Ohio has disappointed some thus far this season, I think they have enough firepower to make this an easy win. Ohio by 21

Brian: I think Central Michigan gained some confidence by winning on the road last week and could make this game competitive early, as Ohio tends to sleep on bad teams. That being said, Ohio will wake up and run away with it being at home. Ohio by 20

Kent State at Ball State (-14.5), Saturday 3:00pm

David: Poor KSU got a very bad draw in their MAC West games. Ball State by 17

DJ: Ball State has been too strong on offense to suggest that Kent will be able to keep up. BSU by 18

Brian: Keith Wenning and the Ball State Cardinals offense is looking pretty much unstoppable as of late. I'll be picking Ball State for a while until they give me a good reason not to. Ball State by 21

Miami at UMass (-4), Saturday 3:00pm

David: Both teams have to be looking at this as a great chance for their first win. UMass at home, with Miami in shambles and more or less coachless, gets the nod. UMass by 3

DJ: This isn't exactly what I would call the game of the week. Both teams have struggled mightily this season, but at this point, I do not see UMass as able to defend home field. Miami by 3

Brian: I think the coaching change wakes this Redhawks team up and they come away with their first victory of the year in Foxboro. Miami by 7

Akron at Northern Illinois (-23.5), Saturday 5:00pm

David: Akron continues to be completely Jekyll and Hyde this year, making these picks very difficult. When in doubt, I'll take the class of the conference by a bunch. NIU by 30

DJ: NIU is too talented to slip up in this matchup. I could see this being a sleeper situation if the game was in Akron, but being in DeKalb, this should be a blowout. NIU by 21

Brian: NIU enters a bit of a lull in the schedule for the next four games. I don't expect anything surprises surfacing against Akron. NIU by 28

Bowling Green at Mississippi State (-9.5), Saturday 7:30pm

David: I'm not buying into BGSU against a power conference team after what happened against Indiana. MSU by 18

DJ: BGSU has played well this year, but that doesn't mean a trip to SEC country will be good for them. MSU by 14

Brian: Bowling Green just doesn't have the speed or athleticism to keep up with most SEC schools. Dak Prescott will be a load for a good Falcons defense. Miss St. by 21
