Novoselsky hops on board
Lincolnshire (Ill.) Stevenson senior two star ranked offensive tackle prospect Zach Novoselsky (6-foot-5, 285 pounds) became the 20th verbal commitment for the WMU Broncos on Thursday night. Novoselsky, who is also the fifth Land of Lincoln commit talks about his decision here.
"I committed to Western Michigan on Thursday night," Novoselsky said. "I wanted to call all of the coaches who recruited me before making it known but I guess another school's coach told the media that night and it got out I guess."
Novoselsky talked about why he gave Western Michigan his verbal commitment.
"It's the coaches and really everyone involved at Western Michigan. I feel like I can trust head coach PJ Fleck and the rest of the coaches. They talk to you in a more personal way and really let you know it's more than just football with them. They make you feel like a part of the family and that was what really sold me on them compared to a lot of other schools. Western Michigan has some serious momentum right now and I wanted to be a part of the program. They offer a great education and I just felt at home there."
Novoselsky admitted that the timing of his decision was influenced by the ever growing Broncos Class of 2014.
"I knew that they (Western Michigan) had like one or two spots at the most left for linemen so that made me move up my time frame. Yet it also forced me to realize that I didn't want to miss out on Western Michigan. The short time frame made me really focus on what was important to me and being at Western Michigan was the most important factor for sure. I didn't want to miss out so I committed."
Novoselsky was also influenced by a historical recruiting class for WMU.
"It's a class that has been huge both in how many recruits they have landed already but who they have landed so far. It's an impressive group and that also made me want to be a part of the program. You want to go to a school where kids want to be at and that just makes my decision seem even better now."
So is Novoselsky's family and friends on board?
"My Dad has been yelling "Row The Boat" for the past few days. It's pretty safe to say my family and friends are on board."
Zach Novoselsky is verbally committed to Western Michigan.
