Staff Predictions: Central Michigan
With the Central/Western game just hours away, BroncoBlitz.com's staff members submit their final predictions on the outcome.
David James: Neither team has had the season they've hoped for, but none of that matters when they hit the field at 1:00. This is Central/Western, and the excitement will always be there.
I really do believe that WMU is a bit better than their 1-4 MAC record shows. There's no doubt they're not what fans hoped, but the schedule outside of UMass has been difficult and CMU isn't quite as good as any of WMU's other MAC opponents thus far. It's impossible to ignore the history in Mount Pleasant, but I do really like the matchup with the Chippewa defense and I think this is the year WMU gets it done.

D.J. Duckett: For both of these teams, this is probably the biggest game of the year. While the Broncos have looked to be getting it together in the last few weeks on offense, it has failed to translate to wins.
I see this being a tough fought battle, with both teams looking to establish the running game early, then looking for the big pass play later in the game. I believe this will come down to defense ultimately. Both teams have shown the ability to score points, but the one that gets that key stop will win in my eyes. I think the Broncos fall in Mt. Pleasant, but keep it a close battle.

Brian Persky: Central Michigan's defense is giving up over 500 yards per game in MAC play. So it's hard to imagine them stopping anybody, let alone a fired up Western Michigan team that will be fighting for their season against their arch-rivals up north.
Oddly enough, this year's rivalry has just as much on the line as ever before, as both teams try to remain bowl eligible. Western Michigan has certainly had their fair share of struggles in Mt. Pleasant, but I think this year, they put away some of those demons on Saturday.
