First commitment in for Cubit and Western Michigan

Western Michigan's first commitment for the class of 2012 is Ki-Jana Evans, a 6-foot-3, 290 pound offensive lineman from Harlan High School in Chicago, Ill.

Evans picked up his offer from head coach Bill Cubit on March 31, and visited WMU once again for the spring game on April 14. He committed by phone today, giving offensive line coach A.J. Ricker the good news. He cited his comfort level as his main reason for committing early in the process, saying that WMU was where his heart was after feeling a lot of love during his visits.

Evans is just one of many linemen being recruited by the Broncos' coaching staff, as WMU is believed to be taking as many as six offensive linemen for 2013. Illinois is a main focus in this cycle as a state known for producing linemen, and A.J. Ricker and Lou Esposito are leading recruiting efforts in the Land of Lincoln.

More to come on this story later tonight.
