Loeffler checks in on in-state ATH
Holliday, 6-foot, 172 pounds, had been receiving interest from Auburn, but was surprised to see Loeffler make the trip to Lanett.
"He came by last Tuesday and that felt great," said Holliday. "My coach told me a few days earlier that Coach Loeffler had called and said he was going to come by, but I didn't really think he would. I was shocked.
"He came early in the day and met with my coach. They talked for a while and he told my coach he liked my film and wanted me to come to camp."
Holliday visited Auburn in the spring and already plans to return in the summer for at least one camp.
"I'm going to try and go to both mini-camps," he said. "I really want to go all out and show them what all I can do."
As a junior, playing quarterback, Holliday accounted for 1,412 yards of total offense and 19 touchdowns. But he's not limited to quarterback in college.
"I can play a lot of positions and will play any position," he said. "I'm going to get in every drill at the camps, whether it's with the DBs or quarterbacks, and show them what I can do. I just want a chance."
Holliday already has one chance, an offer from Northern Iowa, but hopes more schools will give him a chance and extend offers. The way Holliday's recruitment is going, it appears that is more likely to happen than not as more schools show more interest.
Auburn isn't the only SEC school expected to visit Holliday this spring. Arkansas defensive tackles coach/area recruiter Kevin Peoples is scheduling a visit to Lanett soon, said Holliday.
"Coach Peoples said he is going to come by this week and evaluate me," said Holliday. "He said he liked my film and wanted to see me in person."
Southern Miss is also scheduled to visit, as are Mississippi State and Troy. South Alabama has been by to check on Holliday.
"Now I just want to get another offer," he said. "And I'm going to work, do whatever I have to do, play whatever position I have to play, to get it."
At 6-0, 172, Holliday claims a 4.49-second 40-yard dash and a 34-inch vertical leap.
