Conley makes fifteen for Michigan

Massillon (Ohio) Washington cornerback Gareon Conley isn't much interested in suspense. Although he waited until today to pull the trigger, the unranked cornerback made it very clear yesterday that he was planning to commit to Michigan.

"Verbally committing tomorrow," he said on his Twitter account shortly before 6 p.m. Friday.

While that's not an indication in itself that Michigan would be the choice, Conley was planning to visit Ann Arbor today. He cleared up any confusion with a response to Detroit Cass Tech offensive lineman David Dawson, who has already committed to Michigan.

"Yea, I'm trying to join in bro," he told the four-star lineman.

He headed to Michigan's campus first thing in the morning to offer his verbal commitment in person.

So what is Michigan getting in Conley? Although he's unranked in the initial Rivals250, he has plenty of potential. Standing 6-2, 165 pounds, he'll need to add weight to contribute in college, but he has the height that Michigan's coaches have been seeking in a cornerback.

Although Conley missed much of his junior season with a wrist injury, Midwest Recruiting Analyst Josh Helmholdt caught him in action last fall.

"Gareon Conley, CB, Massillon (Ohio) Washington (2013) - A very tall and skinny cornerback," said Helmholdt. "Has decent speed and good agility. Played with a cast on his arm, and competed hard throughout the game."

Conley is the No. 15 commit in Michigan's 2013 class, and the second cornerback, joining Detroit Cass Tech four-star Jourdan Lewis.
