On Wednesday, the Broncos picked up a verbal commitment from Harbor Springs, MI athlete David Walker. He is Western Michigan's 9th in-state commitment, and 15th overall in the 2014 class.
Walker had been turning some heads lately at several regional camps, showcasing his skills at running back, fullback, tight end, and defensive end. Although he's likely best suited to play tight end at the next level, it's possible Fleck could use Walker's versatility on either the offensive or defensive side of the ball.
Harbor Springs, Michigan is not typically known for its football talent. The small town of just over 1,000 people is approximately 10 miles north of Petoskey. It's easy to see why many people are saying Walker flew under the radar and could be a potential steal for the Broncos.
Walker held offers from Ball State, Central Michigan, and Western Michigan and was garnering interest from the Big Ten and several Ivy League schools. Look for Walker, and a few other unranked WMU commits, to get favorable ratings when the next set comes out again this August.
