Tech still in the mix for Curtis?
Mike Leach's penchant for the unorthodox is well documented. From his frequent pirate references to his dry humor to his innovative offense, Leach always shows the ability to think outside the box. Lately, in an attempt to bolster his program's talent level, that mindset has found its way to Tech's recruiting philosophy.
Leach has gone after the best players he can find, even if that means looking outside of Texas, in places such as Arkansas and Oklahoma. Leach signed Pulaksi Academy (AR) quarterback Stefan Loucks last season, and is after several Arkansas prep stars in this recruiting cycle. One of those, all-purpose back De'Anthony Curtis, is liking what he's hearing and giving the Red Raiders a long look.
While Tech already has a true running back in the fold (Oklahoma native Harrison Jeffers), Curtis brings a completely different game to the table than Jeffers does, and would likely be used more in a role similar to that of a Reggie Bush than that of a traditional running back.
