Diet has Tulane-bound DT on track for huge season
Braynon Edwards played at 370 pounds as a junior, says he is down to 340 this summer and plans to drop to 310 by the start of his senior season at Miami Gulliver Prep.
Edwards, a defensive tackle with tremendous upside who committed to Tulane earlier this week, says he is equally committed to getting in the best shape possible to take advantage of his natural talent.
"I've changed the entire way I eat," he said. "I'm on a program where I have a meal every three hours, but it's a small meal, nothing like the way I used to eat. I've been sticking to that every day."
That regimen has been tougher for him than fighting off double teams, but he wants to finish off his high school career with a huge senior year. After making about 40 tackles as a junior, he realized his biggest drawback was a lack of endurance.
Naturally quick for his size, he wore down as games progressed.
